Calzoni Damper

With the oven out of order
I wish we had gotten our act together to get the pizza oven made !

Getting creative with a woodfire is the go however
A quick lunch with little helping hands
It started as damper on a stick,
but went a little lateral with the ingredients

Add strips of salami & mozzarella cheese
smooze with a splash of spicy tomato relish
roll into bangs and place on edges of a large heated saucepan

TIPS:
  • make sure you don't get the relish on the edges or the calzoni won't seal
  • The pan or baking surface needs to warm rather then incendiary
  • the thinner the wrapper the quicker it will cook before burning
  • A bank down coal in the fire place is perfect

COSTING:
Family of Five:  12 pieces @ $3.75 = $0.32 each
(Salami = $2.10 + Mozarella = $0.90 + Flour =$0.75 + relish = gift )

Curse of the White Goods

My house is cursed.

White goods have sent us back to the middle ages of handwashing, bucket flushing
 and no phone line.

Is this a sign of my lack of desire to adapt to modern technology ?

So this month we have lost:
  • dishwasher - completely knackered
  •  landline - it rings but you can't answer it
  • washing machine -  a suspected new pump
  • exhaust fan - almost set fire to itself - decommissioned
  • toilet - flusher broken
  • oven - third element in eight years

Of course this all happens as we close the business for Winter
and a secondary income says ta-da.

Anyone have a second hand wrangle they need shifting ?

Entally House GardenFest

GardenFest at Historic Entally House was on again this weekend.
Not well publicised, but attracting a great number of people just the same.

The Nursery took to the road again, and attended GardenFest for the first time.
With very fine weather, and beautiful garden surrounds.

Killiecrankie Farm Nursery Stall
We had a brilliant weekend, indulging in Freerange Pork sausages from Langdale Farm, some very nice berries and icecream from Moss Side Berries, Custard Tarts from The Red Feather Inn, loads of plants to see and garden features to plan for.

In between all that I did manage to do some work and sell enough plants to over the indulgence !

My thanks as always to our wonderful clients, and to my stall helpers (who made it possible to go berry hunting) Mandy & Julie
