okay can't help myself
i have been spying on other people's yards again
(well an empty paddock to be honest)
this time out the back of Westbury
now this is something I've never come across in Australia before
I've seen them across Britain and Europe
they are laid hedges
take an old decrepit and overgrown hedge
add one very skilled traditional crafts person
and viola !
a renovated hedge
i give the crafts person extra points for
having to deal with nasties like hawthorn
that is laced with blackberry and gorse
its a work of art
a fence
a living wildlife haven
heritage and tradition
Utterly fascinating. I have to find this. Never seen it before.
ReplyDeleteSomeone rang Peter Cundall this morning on his talkback program and they were talking about the same thing. Apparently there is a laid hedge that as just been done at Longford.

Will have to find that one :))
ReplyDeleteI love it Lee, and doesn't it look the part, heritage and functionality in one.. :))
ReplyDeleteWow, would love to have those hedges here (plus a few stone walls)..........what a lot of work but in time they will look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDon't fancy dealing with the nasty, prickly things though.
Hope you've had a great weekend Lee.

I've heard of laid hedges, but surprisingly I've never actually seen one! It looks great though! :) x
