The Garden Voyeur: laburnum arbors

I can remember seeing pictures of Monet's garden
in Giverny with a wonderful golden Laburnum tree
dripping with yellow flowers

its a relatively easy plant to grow
and trains with very little support
to produce an arbor dripping with golden blossoms

the laburnums have rather flexible stems
making it easy to train into arches
and it respond well to pruning ot keep its form

if you can find a cultivar that isn't grafted
the longevity and stress-hardiness of the tree
is considerably longer
with less fear of root suckers taking over

here is a dainty arbor in East Launceston
delicate foliage and flowers
trained beautifully over a garden pathway
a wonderful way to gain  garden structure
and a seasonal focal point
