mushie

i am pretty happy
about my recent batch of mushroom compost

so far it has yielded 2.5 kg of mushrooms
in a week

that means this batch of compost has paid for itself
and half of the next load already

i think i might save a bag under the pines
this weather is perfect for a bit of fungi growth !

the rest is destined for under my strawberries, blueberries
and rhubarbs to keep the weeds down a bit and add
some desperately needed organics to my soil

its Boeuf bourguignon for dinner tonite
and probably sauteed mushies with omelette's tomorrow . . .

P.S. mushroom compost doesn't always have a lot of spores
so we have not always had such a bumper load of mushies,
its the luck of the season really.
if you are a bit cheeky at the garden centre
look in the bags before you load them in the trailer

Also beware of using any composts at this time of the year
as spore levels are high in the warm damp organic material
and aren't always good for your lungs.

Sounds yummy and so do the sauteed mushies and omelette.
